Work Highlights Challenges to Education during Covid
Amritsar, November 8 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Exploring the educational issues during Covid-19 epidemic, the new
book on `Corona virus and Education’ was today released at Khalsa College of Education (KCE) here. The work highlights the opportunities and challenges faced by the teachers and students during the outbreak and how education milieu changed overnight due to lockdown.
Edited by Dr. Hapreet Kaur Principal KCE and Dr. Maninder Kaur and Dr. Deepika Kohli, both Assistant Professors, the book contains scholarly articles, scrutinizing the role of digital education, responsibilities of the teacher, wellness and mental health of the students, ecological learning and impact of lockdown on reading habits.
While releasing the book, Khalsa College Governing Council honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said it was high time to address the issue through research as education was worst hit during Covid-19. The book he said critically, examined transformational changes in the education throughout the world. He congratulated Principal and co-authors for compiling such an interesting work on the vital topic.
Dr. Harpreet Kaur said while the traditional way of teaching was `Chalk and Talk’, the methodology was changed overnight to–classes bringing drastic changes in dissemination of education world over. India coped up well and the teachers and students switched over to the new methods of teaching. “There was a dire need to re-imagine education, curriculum and pedagogy”, said Dr. Harpreet Kaur.
Blending of offline/online classes, Teaching and Digital Divide, Responsibilities of Teachers during Pandemic, Minding the Mind, Future of Education, E-Learning in Public Schools were some of the major issues undertaken in the book, which is readers’ delight as it sums up burning topic of education.
