Amritsar, November 26 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Bibi Jagir Kaur today honoured 20 meritorious students with special prize money and mementoes, who secured top positions in the religious examination conducted by the SGPC’s Dharam Prachar Committee (DPC) in February 2021.
Moreover, she also honoured three students with special prize money, who secured top positions in the Sikh Religious Studies correspondence course.
Bibi Jagir Kaur handed over cheques of Rs 5,100 to the students who secured the first position, Rs 4,100 to the second position and Rs 3,100 to the third position. She also honoured religious teachers and school principals, whose students performed meritoriously. She said SGPC honours the meritorious students of these examinations, under which, 23 have been honoured today. Bibi Jagir Kaur said the objective of the SGPC is to connect as many students and Sangat (devotees) as possible with the Sikh faith, for which, both these exams are proving to be effective.
She said that during the religious examination conducted in February 2021, a total of 1,093 students have got wazifa (scholarships) while 20 students have scored merit.
The present on the occasion SGPC members Gurpreet Singh Jhabbar and Bibi Joginder Kaur Dharamkot, assistant secretaries Simarjeet Singh and Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, superintendent Malkit Singh Beharwal, OSD to SGPC President Dr Sukhbir Singh, Palwinder Singh superintendent Prachar, Prof Sukhdev Singh, in-charge Kartar Singh, Bhai Sarabjit Singh head preacher, Principal Sarwan Singh and others were present.
