New courses to start in four colleges by SGPC in association with American organisation

SGPC President holds virtual meeting with officials of WOJ Innovation and Technology, California

 Sultanpur Lodhi, January 29 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee is entering into an agreement of providing applied software engineering training with an American organisation to start new employment-oriented courses in its colleges.

              Earlier in the day, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami held a virtual meeting with the officials of WOJ Innovation and Technology, Silicon Valley, California in partnership with SCET UC Berkeley, California.

              Following the meeting, SGPC President Advocate Dhami said that the effort of SGPC is to bring new employment-oriented courses in its colleges to provide employment to the youth.

              “Under this initiative, talks have been held with WOJ Innovation and Technology. Students of BSc, BCA, and BTech can apply in the new courses i.e. WOJ Innovation and Applied Software Engineering Program. Under the organisation’s One Million Sikh Coders Initiative, the aim is to create a pool of software coders to lead the Sikh community worldwide into the digital era”, said Advocate Dhami.

               He said that the admissions into these courses will be done following the process of registration and test, respectively.

             “First course will be of three months. The students who pass the first course will be taken into the second course of nine months. This course will run simultaneously with the education of the students. The fee for this course will be Dollar 500 per month”, said SGPC President Advocate Dhami.

                 He said that four colleges have been selected for this course including Guru Nanak Engineering College, Ludhiana, Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib, Guru Teg Bahadar Khalsa College, Sri Anandpur Sahib, and Khalsa College, Patiala. Along with this, the students of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib can also take admission.

               SGPC President said that the students who complete the course will be provided employment opportunities by WOJ Innovation and Technology in the country as well as abroad.

              In the virtual meeting, those present included SGPC President Advocate Dhami, SGPC member Gurmeet Singh Booh, representatives of the WOJ Innovation and Technology Esther Wojcicki, Amit Hooda, Saumen Chakraborty, Johnny J. Kang, Gautam Singh, Harneet Singh Lally, SGPC additional secretary Sukhminder Singh, and manager Gurpreet Singh Rode.
