Amritsar, February 10 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Dr. Narpinder Singh, Professor, Department of Food Science and 
Technology, Guru Nanak Dev University has been awarded honorary fellowship today in the felicitation function of 25th Punjab Science congress organised by Punjab Academy of Science at Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Sri Anandpur Sahib (Ropar).
Punjab Academy of Science every year award this fellowship to one distinguished Scientists from India and abroad who have made immense and rich contribution for the development of Research in the scientific fields and also have worked for the promotion and development of Science. Dr. Singh is internationally renowned for his research in agricultural sciences, particularly in food Science and technology.
He has been conferred with many National awards such as The Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award by Indian Council of Agricultural Research and J.C. Bose National Fellowship awarded by Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India. He is also fellow of Cereals & Grain Association (Formerly Association of Cereal Chemists International), National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Indian National Science Academy, National Academy of Sciences, India, Association of Food Scientists and Technologist India. These awards were conferred upon him due to his exceptional research productivity and the ready applicability of his research findings to academia and industry as well as his leadership in the discipline of Food Science and Technology. He was elected President of Association of Food Scientists and Technologist India in 2016. Dr. Singh has served as expert member in many prestigious research programs committees at National level.
His recent research has clearly explained the effects of environment temperature on wheat and rice quality published in international journals highlighted the strategies to be made keeping in view expected changes in environment.
He has effectively shared his research expertise with the scientific community, as evidenced by his research publications (>300) in journals of international repute. He has a keen interest and ability to bring investigators from diversified backgrounds together to address research problems comprehensively. He has published articles with more than 100 co-authors from around 50 different institutes, universities, and industry located in 12 different countries, which clearly indicated his leadership quality. He has h-index 77 and citation of more than 20,000. This indicates the high impact and acceptability of his published work within the research community.
