SGPC writes letter to CEO, PMU of Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, President PSGPC and Pakistan’s High Commission
Amritsar, March 17 (Punjab Post Bureeau) – Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami while taking a strict notice has demanded a ban on the organisation of a cultural festival namely ‘Jashan-e-Bahar’ by Pakistan Government near holy shrine of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Sri Kartarpur Sahib, Narowal in Pakistan.
On the instructions from the SGPC President Advocate Dhami SGPC on Thursday has written a letter expressing strong objection to organisation of cultural event near Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib to Mr. Muhammad Latif Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Project Management Unit (PMU) of Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, S. Ameer Singh President of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbadhak Committee (PSGPC), and Mr. Aftab Hasan Khan Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India at New Delhi.
Speaking in this regard, SGPC President Advocate Dhami said the event planned by the Pakistan Government at Sri Kartarpur Sahib is against the Maryada (Code of Conduct) of Gurdwara Sahib and therefore, this should not take place. He termed the Jashan-e-Bahar program to be conducted by the Pakistan Government against the Gurmat (teachings of Sikh Gurus) and specially asked the PSGPC to stop the same.
Advocate Dhami said PSGPC President Ameer Singh should talk to the Pakistan Government about this serious issue so that this anti-Gurmat activity can be stopped.
SGPC President said that the Gurdwara Sahibs are the center of flourishing the Sikh faith, from where the message of the ideology of the Gurus is given to all mankind. “It is very important to maintain the entire environment around the Gurdwara Sahib as per the Sikh Maryada but the scheduled event of the Pakistan Government is not as per the Gurmat”, said SGPC President.
He said as per the cards released related to this program, the events of dance, qawalis, bhangra and singing are scheduled to take place, which have no relation to the Gurmat.
“Promoting Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib from a commercial point of view is not appropriate and only Gurmat Samagams (religious congregation) should be held there and its close proximity. If this program takes place, it will not only seriously hit the concerns of Maryada of the Gurdwara Sahib but also hurt the sentiments of Sikh Sangat (devotees)”, said Advocate Dhami.
