Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebrated  

Amritsar,  March 27 (Punjab Post Bureau) –   A two day ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations commemorating 75 years of Independence day were organised at Khalsa College, Amritsar with great enthusiasm and zeal. The event was inaugurated by Major General Sanjay Maini, Chief of Staff, Vajra Corps in the august presence of Vajra warriors, civil dignitaries and throng of local populace. The Chief of Staff flagged off the novel cycle expedition in the morning which will touch all the historical forts of Punjab over a span of 8 days. As a mark of respect and reverence, ‘Shaheedo ki Mitti’ collected from various important places of freedom struggle was also showcased in the memory of our war heroes and freedom fighters.

                The mega event to commemorate 75 years of independence received a very warm response from the public and especially from the school going kids who were enthralled to witness the display of military equipment, multi activity display and the Canine show.

                  The event commenced with paying of homage to the fallen heroes by the Chief of Staff, Vajra Corps, the chief guest for the occasion, followed by a fly past and showering of petals by Army helicopters. The venue swelled up with school going kids, NCC cadets and many dignitaries, adding euphoria to the environment. The performance by the military band filled the air with patriotism as the mighty Tricolor fluttered over Khalsa College, Amritsar. In the evening homage was paid to shaheeds at Jallianwala Bagh by showering of petals on memorial and lighting candles at the eternal flame.

            The event will continue for one more day as the excited citizens continue to throng the venue.
