Harjinder Singh strongly condemns murders of two Sikhs in Pakistan

Amritsar, May 15 (Punjab Post Bureau) – SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh has strongly condemned the murders of two Sikh shopkeepers Ranjit Singh and Sukhjit Singh, who have been shot dead in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan today.

                Advocate Dhami said there have been several attacks on Sikhs in Pakistan in the recent past. He said Hakim Satnam Singh was also murdered last year in Peshawar and some days ago, the sons of former President of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) were also attacked by the land mafia. Similarly, there have been several other reports of attacks on minorities in Pakistan. SGPC President said such incidents taking place in Pakistan are creating a sense of fear among the minorities, about which the government should be serious.

                 Harjinder Singh said with the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in the present days Pakistan, the message of universal brotherhood was spread all over the world but sadly today the Guru’s (master) Sikhs are being targeted. He said Sikhs have a close relationship with Pakistan as there are many Sikh shrines (Gurdwaras) over there and the Sikhs contribute a lot to its development.

                  SGPC President asked the Govt. of Pakistan to pay special attention to this issue and ensure the safety of life and property of minority Sikhs living there. He also appealed the Govt of India to take appropriate steps to protect the lives and property of the Sikhs living  in Pakistan by holding diplomatic level talks with Government of Pakistan.

                 Advocate Dhami said that Govts of Pakistan & India should ensure on priority, security & safety of life & property of minority Sikhs living in Pakistan. Pak govt should fulfill its responsibility diligently as such murders of minorities is matter of great concern for entire world especially the Sikhs”, said SGPC President Adv Harjinder Singh. He added such incidents occurred in recent past too but no justice is delivered.

                SGPC President has demanded that miscreants who shot dead two Sikhs in Peshawar, Pakistan should be put behind the bars immediately & justice should be delivered to the families at the earliest.
