Amritsar, August 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The classes for the newly established Gurmat Study Centre at Khalsa College today began following prayers at the Gurdwara Sahib, invoking the blessings from the almighty. The Centre would offer a graduate degree course to 30 students free of cost, said Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina in a press statement here today.
The aim, he said, was to train the students in religious preaching and recitals of Gurbani. “The students will get training in Gurmat way of life and teachings through this three-years long degree course. All the costs would be borne by the Khalsa College Society”, said he adding that special attention will be paid to train the students in various foreign languages.
While addressing the first batch of the students including girls, he hoped that the Centre would emerge as a most prominent one in the arena of religious education and would help the community to provide better understanding of the Sikh philosophy and religion to the people of the world. Principal Dr. Mehal Singh and Co-in charge Dr. Inderjit Singh Gagoani said apart from zero fees, the boarding and lodging of the students would also be free.
