Amritsar, August 29 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The students of DAV Public School Lawrence Road organised a special assembly to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand. On this occasion the students remembered the great player and took an oath to take inspiration from the eventful life of the distinguished player. They added that he was the greatest Indian who refused to play for other countries. They also mentioned about the importance of sports and games which helps us to be physically active and healthy. They highlighted about the famous sports personalities who won medals in Commonwealth Games, recently held in Birmingham, and brought laurels, by giving a spectacular demonstration of different games which was the highlight of the assembly.
Regional officer Punjab Zone A Dr. Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr. Pushpinder Walia in their message asked the students to respect great legends like Dhyan Chand and take pride in celebrating Indian culture and heritage.
Dr. Pallavi Sethi Principal of the school motivated the students to take part in games and advised them to imbibe the values of honesty, team spirit, self discipline and cooperation.
