KCVAS organizes CEDSI collaborated Dairy Training for Una farmers

Amritsar, September 3 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences,(KCVAS) Amritsar organised a ‘Dairy Training Course’ for dairy farmers in collaboration with Center of Excellence for Dairy Skills in India (CEDSI). Lectures on various relevant topics on dairy farming were delivered which includes management of dairy farms, balanced feeding & Ration preparation, common diseases of dairy animals & their prevention, reproductive disorders, AI and biosecurity at dairy farms. An Open discussion cum Question Answer session was conducted to clear the doubts & queries of the trainees. Along with the training, a Special visit cum Practical session was organised to KCVAS Livestock Farm for trainees through which, the farmers were familiarised about the excellent dairy germplasm for milk production.

The trainees were exposed to the animals of different milch breeds their rearing pattern and how to record basic body parameters (temperature, pulse etc.) for early diagnosis of sick animals. Further, it is important to mention that CEDSI & KCVAS has a MOU for undertaking such skill related training and activities for farmers. This is the first training held after the signing of the MOU said Principal, Dr. Harish Verma and revealed that 20 trainees including 6 lady farmers and 14 farmers participated in the training coming from Una district of Himachal Pradesh. Interestingly, the trainees were awarded about the Lumpy Skin Disease management of dairy animals and their nursing care for early resumption of normalcy and milk production. CEDSI, Gurgaon also conducted an online exam and offline practical viva for judging their training skills for awarding them skill certificates.
