Amritsar, January 25 (Punjab Post Bureau)- DAV Public School Lawrence Road celebrated 74th Republic Day and 
Vasant Panchami with immense patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. To mark these occasions the students of the school prepared a special assembly.
The students paid rich tribute to the freedom fighters and great leaders of the country. On this day in 1950 India was declared as a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic. They sang patriotic songs and recited poems highlighting the selfless sacrifices that led us to breathe in free India. The students informed about the importance of the day, how long debates, discussions and a lot of research led into the making of constitution. They took pride in glorifying various achievements of their country. In the end they took a pledge to remove the darkness of ignorance, corruption, hatred and other evils and make the country a shining glory.
The festival of Vasant Panchami, which marks the end of winter and the onset of spring, was also celebrated with great zeal . The students of the school sang Saraswati Vandana invoking the blessings of Goddness Saraswati for seeking knowledge and wisdom. They highlighted the significance of the festival and recited poems . The students were dressed in yellow attire which symbolizes prosperity, light, energy and optimism.
Regional Officer Punjab Zone – A Dr. Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr. Pushpinder Walia conveyed their blessings and greetings to the students and staff.
Dr. Pallavi Sethi Principal of the school extended her best wishes to the students and staff and urged that everyone should abide by the constitution and fulfil all his duties as a responsible citizen.
