Amritsar, June 22 (Punjab Post Bureau) – BBK DAV College Women celebrated International Yoga Day in which
the Department of Physical Education along with the NCC and NSS units of the college participated. Celebrating the occasion, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia expressed that the practice of yoga brings joy, health, peace from within and deepens a sense of connection between an individual’s inner consciousness and the external world. She also shed light upon the numerous benefits of practicing yoga in life as well as its history how yogais associated with the culture and heritage of India.
The event started with the instructive session of Mr. Rajesh Bhatia, Mrs. Sanjana Kundra, and Mrs. Meenakshi, members of Bhartiya Yog Sansthan. Addressing the participants, Mr. Rajesh Bhatia said that yoga is based upon the edifice of unifying the mind, body and soul in order to foster greater mental, spiritual and physical well-being. He also accentuated the various benefits of yoga as its regular practice enhances cardiovascular health, improves posture and balance and increases overall body awareness.
Dr. Anita Narendra, Dean Community Development Initiatives, NSS Programme Officers Ms.Surbhi Sethi and Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal, Ms. Sweety Bala Head Department of Physical Education,Mr. Sanjeev Sharma, Ms. Cheena, Ms. AkshikaAneja , Ms. SumeraChhabra, Ms. Ravinderpal Kaur, Dr. Sahil Gupta, Ms. Sandeep Kaur, Mr. Ankur and Mrs. Sukhbir Kaur, participated in the event. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Anita Narendra. On this occasion, NSS volunteers also participated ina poster- making competition to celebrate the day.
