Tree Plantation Drive at KCET

Amritsar, July 16 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A fruits tree plantation drive was held at Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET) Ranjit Avenue Amritsar under the guidance of Director of the college, Dr. Manju Bala to make the campus eco-friendly and greener.

In her address, Dr. Manju Bala said Earth’s biodiverse ecosystem is misbalanced and effecting the health of all human beings. So it’s time we pay heed to our surroundings and work to build a better planet and it is very important for each individual to plant at least one tree in his lifetime. She said that it’s no wonder that trees represent life, growth, beauty and peace. Trees exhale for us so that we can inhale them to stay alive. She said that rigorous tree plantations are the need of the hour in current scenario of global warming and increasing carbon footprints. She also said that it not only important to plant a tree but one should adopt trees and take care of it for lifetime.

More than 100 new saplings of different varieties including Kinnow, Jamun, Anjeer, Lemon, Mango, Pear and guava were planted by the faculty and students of the College. Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina Hon. Sec., KCGC lauded the efforts of the faculty of the College for this noble step towards the environment. Others present on the occasion were Dr. Jasleen Kaur (HOD, CSE), Dr. Maalti Puri (HOD, ECE), Er. Jasjeevan Singh (NSS Coordinator), Dr. Pardeep Singh (HOD, Applied. Sciences), Er. Loveleen Kaur, Dr. Supreet Kaur and other faculty members.
