Guru Nanak Dev Guru Nanak Dev University celebrates ‘National Education Day’

Amritsar, November 11 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Department of Education of Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar celebrated the “National Education Day “ to commemorate the birth anniversary of India’s first Education minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad under the guidance of, Head, Department of Education, Prof (Dr.) Amit Kauts and Prof (Dr.) DeepaSikand kauts DeanFaculty Department of Education Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar. First and foremost, Prof. (Dr.) Amit Kauts, gave an informative talk on the life history of first Education minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. He shared that Abul Kalam Azad’s name is very popular in Indian education system.Because of his innumerable contributions in the field of education, his birth anniversary is being celebrated.Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, also known as Abul Kalam Ghulam Muhiyuddin, was a multifaceted personality who played a pivotal role in shaping modern India. Maulana Azad was not only an eloquent orator and a prolific writer, but he was also the youngest person to have served as the President of the Indian National Congress. His passion for education and his unwavering commitment to the betterment of the nation earned him the epithet “Maulana,” an honorific title meaning ‘learned one.’Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s contribution to the field of education was immense.

After this informative feed the students of the Department of Education attended an online live telecast programme that was organised by the School of Educationof IGNOUunder the guidance of Ministry of education of India on the main theme “Building a knowledgeEconomy: Lessons from India’s History”. The first talk in online programme was given byPadma Shri, Prof (Dr) Dinesh Singh Former Vice- Chancellor of Delhi University.  He Enlighted the students by delivering a valuable speech on “Building a knowledgeEconomy” He highlighted the Indian Knowledge System with India Culture and Indian Ethos.Further, the talk on the main theme was graced by Prof (Dr) Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University, and by Prof (Dr) C.B. Sharma, Director IGNOU.

The concluding remarks were facilitated by Prof. (Dr.) Deepa Sikand Kauts. She talked clearly about the recognition of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s exceptional contributions to education and his tireless efforts to make education accessible to all. National Education Day (National Day of Education) is celebrated on his birthday, November 11th, each year. It serves as a tribute to his vision and unwavering commitment to the cause of education, inspiring generations to come.He firmly believed that education was the most potent weapon that could be used to transform society and empower the masses. As India’s first Minister of Education, he laid the foundation for the country’s modern education system. His tireless efforts led to the establishment of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
