GNDU and Nanak Singh Literary Foundation started Annual scholarship

Amritsar, August 8 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Guru Nanak Dev University and the S. Nanak Singh Literary Foundation, under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu announced the launch of an Annual Scholarship for deserving and high-achieving research students starting from the 2024-25 academic session. This scholarship will be awarded to eligible researchers based on criteria established by GNDU with an annual grant amount of Rs. 25000.

The inaugural fellowship was presented to research student Kulwinder Kaur by Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu Kulbir Singh Suri and Navdeep Singh Suri at a special event marking this significant initiative.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sandhu said that that Nanak Singh is an iconic figure in modern Punjabi literature, and commended the foundation for establishing this scholarship in his memory. He expressed optimism that this initiative would inspire greater interest in nurturing accomplished scholars in Punjabi literature.

Prof. Sandhu further encouraged Kulwinder Kaur, the first recipient of this prestigious scholarship to actively engage in activities organized by the S. Nanak Singh Center while diligently carrying out responsibilities related to gathering and researching materials associated with S. Nanak Singh’s life and works.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Palwinder Singh Dean Academic Affairs, Kulbir Singh Suri President of the Nanak Literary Foundation, Navdeep Singh Suri Director O.R.F, Dr. Manjinder Singh Head School of Punjabi Studies and Dr. Harinder Kaur Sohal Coordinator Nanak Singh Center from Guru Nanak Dev University.
