Amritsar, March 17 (Punjab Post) – Dr. Pushpinder Walia Principal BBK DAV College for Women, has been
conferred with the prestigious Change Maker Award 2026 by the National EduTrust of India, in recognition of her exemplary leadership and remarkable contribution towards institutional excellence and sustainable initiatives in higher education.
The award was presented for a unique transformational initiative undertaken by the college in which a selected campus space was creatively reimagined and transformed. The area has been reborn as a vibrant mural, created entirely from e-waste, reflecting an innovative blend of sustainability, art, and environmental awareness.
The project beautifully represented the spirit of BBK DAV College for Women, where education extended beyond classrooms and encouraged students to become responsible change makers. By transforming discarded electronic waste into meaningful art, the initiative highlighted the importance of environmental consciousness and creative expression.
The Change Maker Award was given on the basis of four major parameters, namely Creativity and Innovation, Sustainability and Use of Eco-friendly Materials, Student and Community Involvement, Impact and Usefulness of the Transformed Area.
Mr. Samarth Sharma CEO, National EduTrust of India, marked his presence as the chief guest and lauded the commitment shown by the college towards sustainable intiatives and also felicitated Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia on receiving the award.
Speaking on the occasion Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia thanked National EduTrust of India for the award and remarked that it is a proud moment for the entire BBK DAV family. She added that the aim of the college has always been to nurture socially responsible and environmentally conscious citizens. Additionally, the college launched Green Bharat 2-Week Impact Challenge in collaboration with National EduTrust of India.
