A DBT Sponsored Guest Lecture organized by Department of Physics & Zoology

Amritsar Mar. 21 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A DBT Sponsored Guest Lecture was organized by Department of Physics & Zoology, BBK DAV College for Women. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Rajiv Dhawan, Associate Professor, Govt. Medical College, Amritsar on the topic “Application of Physics in Medical Field”. On this occasion Dr. Dhawan was welcomed by the college Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra. Dr. Dhawan briefed the students about application of Physics concepts, theories and methods to medicine or healthcare. He said that most dramatic developments in medicine such as X-Ray, MRI, CT Scan, PET Scan, Laser Surgery and many more have originated in Physics. He informed students about a significant active role played by physicists in clinical areas. It was a learning, enlightening and interactive session for the students where he answered all the queries put up by the students to their full satisfaction.

The chief guest and Principal felicitated the winners of Essay Writing and on spot Poster Making competition organized by Department of Physics on occasion of Science Day on 28^th Feb, 2015. Dr. Shaweta Mohan, Head, Department of Physics extended a vote of thanks to the chief guest for sparing his valuable time. Dr. Monika Bhardwaj, Head, Department of Zoology and other faculty members of Dept. of Physics and Zoology were also present.
