HARSIMRAT BADAL PRESIDES OVER STATE LEVEL INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATIONS

SAYS  IT CAN GO A LONG WAY IN KEEPING THE YOUTH AWAY FROM DRUGS

 Amritsar, June 21 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Rejuvenated by the energy exuded by the enthusiast participants in the State Level Function held to mark the First International Yoga Day celebration, Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal, whole heartedly appreciated the efforts of District Administration in organizing a yoga session with voluntary participation from the age group 6 to 70.

Speaking on the occasion Mrs. Badal said that it is indeed a matter of pride for India that its ancient science of Yoga has been internationally recognized by 170 countries across the globe and Yoga Day is being celebrated in varied manner worldwide. She said that the celebrations in India are not just limited to certain districts or States but they are being observed in army camps on the  snow  covered peaks to the desert areas of the country; be it army, navy or the civilians, all are celebrating it with equal enthusiasm. It has emerged as a new unifying force in the country as people have risen above the caste, creed, race and religion considerations and are celebrating it in unison as a National Festival.

Advocating the spread of Yoga to every household in the nation, Mrs. Badal said that yoga brings a harmony between mind and body. It is a must for holistic health, happiness and harmony. She said it gives mental strength so it can go a long way to help youth to keep away from drugs or to wean them out of the malady.

She applauded hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi’s initiative to help people to focus via yoga on the internal well being instead of external comforts. In the rat race for gathering material comforts, mental stress is shooting up while the graph of happiness is on the ebb, said she and added that Yoga is the remedy, the only antidote for this quandary.

Earlier, Mr. Anil Joshi, Cabinet Minister Punjab, welcomed the dignitaries and said that Yoga is India’s precious gift to the world. He said that international yoga day celebration by nearly two hundred nations is a proof that India’s ancient science has proved its mettle and it is a good omen in the direction of India re-emerging as “Vishav Guru”, the Leading Nation.

Mr. Gulzar Singh Ranike , Cabinet Minister Punjab extended a vote of thanks and expressed gratitude for choosing the holy city as the destination for the State Level Celebration of the International Yoga Day.

It is pertinent to mention that a dedicated participation in the half an hour long yoga session by Cabinet Minister Anil Joshi, Mayor Bakshiram Arora, DC Pardeep Sabbarwal and his team of PCS officials was a great motivation to the other participants. A large number of school and college students, reps from NGO’s, volunteers and general public participated in the celebration.

Mr. Sandeep Daya from National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi and Dr. Rupinder Singh, Ayurvedic Medical Officer guided the participants about the yog-aasanas.

Mr. Hussanlal, Commissioner AYUSH, Dr. Rakesh Sharma, director, Ayurveda Punjab, Mr. Jatinder Singh Aulakh , Commissioner Police were also present on the occassion.
