Amritsar and Tarn Taran all set for smooth and hassle-free paddy procurement

Amritsar, Sept. 22 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Amritsar and Tarn Taran districts are all set to witness smooth and hassle-free paddy procurement in both districts with Principal Secretary Transport Mr. R. Venkatratnam today reviewed all necessary arrangements besides issuing requisite directions for the facilitation of farmers.

In a review meeting held here, Mr. Venkatratnam accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ravi Bhagat examined the availability of needful gunny bags, Sheller allotments, mandi allotments and release orders to witness smooth flow of paddy procurement. He directed the authorities concerned to get maintenance of cleanliness, potable water and other required facilities for farmers. He also reviewed the tenders for labour and transportation system.

Meanwhile, giving directions to Additional Deputy Commissioners, Sub Divisional Magistrates, District Food and Civil Supplies Controllers, District Mandi Officers, District Managers of various procurement agencies, Mr. Venkatratnam asked them to remain vigilant during the season so that the farmers could not have to suffer. He expressed satisfaction over gunny bags availability, procurement arrangements, lifting and storage arrangements besides checking the mechanism of making payment to farmers. It is pertinent here that Mr. R. Venkatratnam has been appointed as Nodal Officer for Amritsar and Tarn Taran districts to supervise and monitor paddy procurement.
