
Amritsar, Sept. 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Department of Economics of BBK DAV College for Women organized a lecture on ‘Census 2011- The Hidden Story’ by Dr. Anjali Mehra, Asst. Prof. Dept. of Social Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar on 24.09.5. She touched the issues relating to Demographic Structure of Population in India. She highlighted the employment scenario in changing occupational distribution pattern, health issues, sex ratio and skill formation.
Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra, welcomed the speaker. She emphasized on importance of such lectures for overall growth of the students. Mrs. Poonam Kohli, Head dept. of Economics introduced the speaker to the students and teachers present there. She highlighted the problems of rising population in India and pointed out the significance of topic selected for the lecture.
Dr. Anjana Khanna, Dr. Vani Arora, Mrs. Meenakshi Bhatia, Mrs. Sheetal Sharma from dept. of economics, Mrs. Manju from dept. of Maths, Mrs. Anu Khanna from dept. of Philosophy and Dr. Anjana Bedi from dept of commerce attended the lecture. Students of BA, B.Sc. Economics and M.Com who attended the lecture found it very informative and useful.
