
Amritsar, Oct. 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) – DAV Public School, Lawrence Road paid rich tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and the former Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri. Mahatma Gandhi is remembered all over the world for peace and truth. He played a major role in the freedom struggle of India. The students of the school prepared a special assembly to pay homage to this apostle of peace and supporter of non – violent movement. A short one – act play was performed by the students portraying the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. The students encouraged everyone to follow the path of honesty, peace and contentment through the “three wise monkeys’ of Mahatma Gandhi that embody the principle of “see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil.”
The students also paid homage to Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri who gave the slogan “ Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” and worked for the upliftment of the common man. He was a simple and soft spoken man who became the symbol of India’s valor and self – respect . The students sang patriotic songs and hymns to pay tribute to the great leaders. In the end they took a pledge to march ahead on a progressive path imbibing the values of ‘ahimsa’.
Regional Director Amritsar Zone Dr.(Mrs.) Neelam Kamra Principal BBK DAV College for Women, Lawrence Road and the Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar Principal DAV College, Hathi Gate sent their best wishes to the teachers and the students on this occasion . They asked the students to remember the great souls and their contributions for the country. They also added that the philosophy of Gandhi ji must be incorporated in the education system and students must be encouraged to adopt simple living like the Mahatma.
Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school while addressing the students said that Gandhi ji is an idol of humanity and we must follow the path of truth and wisdom to pay homage to the Father of Nation. She blessed the students by wishing peace and happiness for them on the birth anniversary of the two great souls.
