Amritsar, Oct. 2 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The District Administration today paid rich tributes to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi and Former Prime Minister Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri, on their birth anniversary.
Paying floral tributes to both legendary leaders, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ravi Bhagat said that ideologies, principles and values of both great leaders will remain relevant for the entire nation for all times to come. He also administered oath of dedication and devotion to all officers and officials of district and exhorted that we all should perform our respective duties with utmost efficiency and diligence. He said that this will be the real tribute in real sense to Father of nation and other legendary leaders.
The Deputy Commissioner gave a call to all that we should encompass commitment towards our duties, welfare of the deprived classes, disseminate information regarding welfare and public schemes to the grass root level, so that country envisioned by our legendary leaders may be built. Mr. Bhagat also recalled the services rendered by the two leaders to the nation besides quoting various instances from the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
Prominent amongst those who paid floral tributes included Additional Deputy Commissioners Mr. Tejinder Pal Sandhu and Mr. Surinder Pal Aangra, Assistant Commissioner Madam Amandeep Kaur, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr. Vimal Setia, Mr. Rajesh Sharma, Mr. Surinder Singh, District Transport Officer Mrs. Lovejeet Kalsi and officers/officials from various departments.
