Workshop on Early Childhood Education  held at DAV Public School

Amritsar, Oct. 5 (Punjab Post Burea) –  Under the aegis of DAV CAE Regional Training Centre (Amritsar, Zone ) under DAV Centre of Academic Excellence , DAV , CMC , New Delhi and CBSE’s directive, a two day Orientation  Programe for Teachers  on Early Childhood Education was organised at DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, Amritsar on  Ist  and 3rd Oct,  2015. The workshop was held  with the aim to understand child psychology and bring a qualitative improvement in the teaching – learning process with the objective of enhancing learner achievement at the primary level.

As many as 34 teachers from GND DAV Public School, Bhikhiwind , MKD DAV Public School, Attari, DAV International School, Police DAV School and  DAV Public School participated in the workshop. Regional Director (Amritsar Zone ) Dr.(Mrs.)Neelam Kamra Principal BBK DAV College for Women, Lawrence Road, Amritsar inaugurated the workshop and said that she was happy to see eager teachers as a teacher must always grow and upgrade himself to deal with changing trends in education. Ms.Shama Sharma, Supervisor Co – Curricular activities at  DAV Public School , Mr.Paramjit , Principal MKDAV Public School, Attari and Ms.Anuradha Grover, Incharge Pre – Primary wing, DAV Public School were the resource persons for the workshop. Mr. Paramjit discussed different aspects of child development and shared different techniques and strategies that can be adopted for the development of various skills among the young leaners. Ms.Shama Sharma undertook the session on  ‘Development of Creative and Expressive Arts’. She actively engaged the teachers in different activities and theatrical techniques to  engage the attention of the little ones. Teachers were guided for lesson planning using interdisciplinary approach followed by group presentations. Ms. Anuradha Grover involved the teachers in activities which they can utilise to strengthen various concepts being taught in the class. They were made to sing and dance on various songs and rhymes which teachers can use as an effective tool in the class. The teachers were also informed about the continuous and comprehensive evaluation and to evaluate students using play – way techniques such as group games , fun activities, puzzles etc. The details of the checklist and the cumulative card for different classes were also discussed during the workshop.In the end the queries of the teachers were taken and teachers shared their experiences with all.  The workshop was a success as many new ideas and innovative ways to enhance teaching and learning process were developed. Regional Director (Amritsar Zone) Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra Principal BBK DAV College for Women  motivated the teachers through a chapter from Sh. Vivekananda’s life. She applauded the efforts of the school for organising the workshop.  She emphasised that teachers play a vital role during the formative years of the child development. She added that such workshops are very important in keeping the teachers abreast with the latest trends in education. Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school, thanked the resource persons and all the participants for being a part of the workshop. She stressed upon the fact that young learners must be given time and opportunity to build their own knowledge.
