
Ajnala, October 6 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Lance Naik Gurdev Singh of Sikh regiment, who sacrificed during gunbattle with militants at Handwara in Kupwara of Jammu and Kashmir, today cremated here in his native village Boparai Bajsingh with full state honours.
As soon as his mortal remains reached at his native village around 3 pm in a military vehicle, people from all walks of life thronged to his residence to bid tearful adieu. Wreaths were laid by a number of people including Col. RR Kotwal Dy. Commander 54 Infentry Dograe Brigade, Col. CDS Sandial Commanding Officer 12, J& K Riffle, Major Navneesh Grungh, Cap. VK Solanki, Chairman Distt. Planning Committee Mr. Vir Singh Lopoke, Lakshmi Kanta Chawla, SDM Ajnala Mr. Surinder Singh, Raju Chauhan etc. The lance naik is survived by a daughter Avneet (4), son Lakshdeep (2) and wife Rajbir Kaur, Father Mehar Singh, Brother Major Singh and sister Gurinder Kaur.
