Modi has no magic wand to turn fortunes of Akali Dal – BJP candidates

Nails Khanna on performance, tours Bhoa assembly constituency

PPN220401
Gurdaspur, April 22 ( Punjab Post Bureau) –   The Punjab Congress Committee President  Mr.Partap Singh Bajwa, today said the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate and the Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr.NarendraModi, had no magic wand to uplift the sinking fortunes of the Akali Dal-BJP candidates in Punjab. He also challenged his opponent from the BJP, Mr.VinodKhanna, on performance index in the LokSabha.

Mr.Bajwa, who is seeking re-election from Gurdaspur, said  the anti-incumbency against the state government in general and the Deputy Chief Minister, Mr.Sukhbir Singh Badal, and the Revenue Minister, Mr.  Bikram Singh Majithia in particular, was so strong that Mr.Modi would miserably fail to reverse the situation and this alliance would be wiped out from the state. He said  the desperate alliance was counting on Mr.Modi but this state was different from the  rest of the country due to its political dynamics.

He said this government’s only claim to fame was that this once the most prosperous state had been turned into a state of addicts and the people had openly started demanding from the rulers, including the Chief Minister, Mr.Parkash Singh Badal, that licenced vends should be opened  here on the Rajasthan pattern for selling poppy husk (Bhukki).  He said the smuggling of narcotics was being controlled by the ruling party’s mafia. The Akali Dal candidates had now become so demoralised from the prospect of defeat  that they had also started supporting this demand. He cited the case of Akali Dal candidate from  FaridkotMrs. ParamjitKaurGulshan in this regard.

Mr.Bajwa said jungle law prevailed in the state and it was shocking that the staff of the Orbit transport company owned by Mr.SukhbirBadal publicly forced the passengers of a state  roadways bus yesterday on the GT Road at Jalandhar to get down and board their bus. He said the Deputy Chief Minister had monopolised private transport in the state and now his target was to close down the state transport. He said the de facto situation was that the routs on which the roadways buses used to run had already been taken over by the Badal transport.

The PPCC chief said the Akali Dal-BJP alliance was seeking votes only in Mr.Modi’s name but this factor would not blunt the strong anti-incumbency in the state.

Joining issues with Mr. Khanna, he said the Mumbai Ka Babu should have thought twice before questioning his performance. He said his attendance in the 15th Lok Sabha was 82 per cent as against 42 per cent of Mr. Khanna in his last tenure, 1.e., 14th Lok Sabha. Similarly, he said he put 359 questions during the period under comparison as against just 4 in five years by Mr. Khanna. He said this was part of the record of the Lok Sabha.

He said so far as the issue of brining big ticket projects from the centre was concerned, Mr.Khanna should better have questioned the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister who scuttled his projects by not allocating land. These projects included railway coach factory at Kalanaur and Beas-Qadian railway line, to talk of only just two projects, he added.

Bajwa toured Taragarh, Kathlaur, NarotJaimal Singh, Gugran, Malarwan, Taloor, Naroli, Ambi, Janial, Bamial,Kichack, BarmaalJattan and DatialalongwithRumal Chand Ex MLA,Raj Kumar Bloc President, Rajvir Singh Gogi, KapilSalaria, LakhbirSingh, Ramesh Ram Ex Sarpanch, Raj Kumar, SanjivBains President Youth Congress District, Kuljit Saini, Surjit Pathania, Raj Kumar,  Ashok Suri City President, Dr. Pankaj Rai Youth Secretary, Vijay, Kewalsingh, Nisha Sharma, Rajesh Kumar, Angrej Chand, Prem Kumar, Satinder Singh, Shiv Lal Sarpanch.

On this occasion mahinder pal village Kili Khurd and Jamal Singh village Sharif Chak joined the congress party from BJP.
