
Amritsar, Oct. 31 (Punjab Post Bureau)- DAV Public School, Lawrence Road observed Vigilance Awareness Week from 26th October,2015 to 31st October,2015 to spread awareness among the students to have knowledge about the guidelines and laws made to check corruption at every level. The theme for Vigilance Awareness this year was ‘ Preventive Vigilance as a tool of Good Governance’. Speaking about the dreams of common man and shining India, the students laid stress on the changes that must be brought in the system so as to prevent misconducts. They showed their conviction in the honourable Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Make in India’ and hoped to see the country rise from the land of doom to gloom and great expectations and opportunities. The students took a pledge to stand against corruption and raise their voice for justice. Mrs. Reman Sharma, Supervisor Std. IX & X guided the students on how to remain vigilant about the happenings in their surroundings. She stressed that corruption plays a negative role in the growth of the country and gives a bad name to it. She said that it was imperative to spread the message of preventive vigilance to young minds so as to influence the society at large.
Mrs. Inderjit Sandhu from the S.St faculty, while addressing the students said that India needs good governance–a responsible, effective and efficient government. She said that education is one key that can open the door to new avenues. She added that we all must take the responsibility for improving our practices in every field.
Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school said that the need of the hour is a clean India in all aspects-social, political and spiritual. She asked the students to come forward and be the whistle blowers and say no to any kind of corruption going around. Regional Director, Amritsar Zone Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra, Principal, BBK DAV College for women and the Manager of the school, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal, DAV College appreciated the efforts of the school for organising the event. They said that the theme should not be taken for this week only but must be carried on in our daily practices such that it becomes a habit with everyone.
