Amritsar, Nov. 13 (Punjab Post Bureau)-  Punjab Deputy Chief Minsiter Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the congregation of extremists forces held at Chabba in Tarn Taran on November 10 was purely a political gathering backed by the Punjab Congress.

Talking to media persons after paying obeisance at Golden Temple along with his wife and Union Food Processing Industries Minister Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal, the Deputy CM said the sole purpose of the gathering was to create disturbances in Punjab with the sole purpose of the forthcoming assembly elections in 2017. Mr. Badal categorically said that people of Punjab has made Mr. Parkash Singh Badal Chief Minister for five terms and in every term peace, amity and communal concord had remained the top priority of his government. “This will continue to remain our top priority even now”, he added.

The Deputy CM maintained that anti-Punjab forces were working at behest of foreign hands including agencies. He said that state was working round the clock to expose these nefarious designs and bring truth to fore.             Answering a query regarding the so called Sarbat Khalsa, Mr. Badal said Sarbat Khalsa has a rich religious and historic background with Maryada (a code of conduct). He said a Sarbat Khalsa could not be organised in fields. He said the congregation held by extremist forces was aimed at dividing society as per the aim of the Congress. Mr. Badal also questioned as to why the organizers did not pass any resolution against the Congress Party for Sikh genocide, brutal killings of thousands of Sikhs in 1984 anti-Sikh riots besides not seeking arrest of perpetrators of ’84 riots. Referring to another question Mr. Badal clarified that there was no role of Punjab Government in the functioning of SGPC and Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He said that anti-Punjab forces were challenging the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib by creating fracas inside the Golden Temple, which was very unfortunate and highly condemnable.

When asked about the recent visits of Congress Vice President Mr. Rahul Gandhi to console the families of two youth in Faridkot district, Mr. Badal said none of the Congress leader ever visited the homes of victims of 1984 riots. He said Mr. Rahul Gandhi expressed grief with those families to take politics mileage from the unfortunate incidents. He said the Congress was hell bent to create disturbance in the state in order to register victory in ensuing assembly polls. He also reminded the Congress leadership that by creating rifts and splits in the communities, Congress cannot succeed in its political designs and would face a third consecutive defeat in 2017.

Speaking over the issue of peace and harmony, Mr. Badal said that it was the foremost mission of SAD-BJP alliance. He urged the people of Punjab that they should differentiate between constructive and destructive rules. He said that under 9 year rule of SAD-BJP alliance Punjab has witnessed unprecedented development while the Congress had always meted out severe discrimination with Punjab.

Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ravi Bhagat, Commissioner of Police Mr. J.S. Aulakh, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr. Pardeep Sabharwal, Chief Secretary SGPC Mr. Harcharan Singh, SGPC Members Jathedar Dayal Singh Kolianwali, Bhai Ram Singh, Mr. Rajinder Singh Marwah, Mr. Navdeep Singh Goldi and Mr. Gurpartap Singh Tikka.
