Ms. Nikki Crevey, Economic Officer from American Embassy visited GNDU Punjab School of Economics

Amritsar, Dec. 8 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Ms. Nikki Crevey, Economic Officer from American Embassy visited Punjab School of Economics, Guru Nanak Dev University today for an interactive meeting with the faculty and research scholars of the School. She was accompanied by Mr. D.J Rao, Sr. Economic Specialist of the American Embassy working at New Delhi. The topic of discussion was ‘Overall Economic Environment of Punjab: Opportunities and Challenges’, covering various aspects of the Punjab Economy. Prof. Paramjit Nanda, Head, Punjab School of Economics highlighted achievements about the Department. Prof. Kuldip Kaur presented the overall macroeconomic scenario of Punjab. Prof. Parminder Singh discussed the problems faced by the industrial sector in Punjab. Prof. S.S. Dhillon, Registrar, Guru Nanak Dev University highlighted the various issues concerning the deteriorating conditions in agriculture sector besides presenting the presedential remarks. Dr. Baljit Kaur, Assistant Professor stated about the fiscal condition of Punjab. Dr. Swati Mehta emphasized that Punjab is facing the problem of de-industrialization and the need is to formulate specific policies that could sustain industrial growth for economic growth and employment generation.
