Amritsar, Jan 30 (Punjab Post Bureau)- An informative seminar on “Applying Carol Dweck’s Theory of Mindset to Organizational Leadership” was organized at CKD Institute of Management and Technology (CKDIMT) here today. The key resource person was Dr. Sally Coleman Selden, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Lynchburg College, USA. Her main focus was on the fact that “growth mind set” relates directly to achievements. A floral welcome was extended to the Hon’ble guest speaker by the CKD family.
Dr. Sally discussed how “Supporting Mindsets” work in organizations and the goals are the things we aim for. The sole purpose was to enumerate how performance can be garnered through learning. She further enlisted various strategies which enable one to reach success. Her key point of research was a comparative survey of “fixed mindset over growth mindset”.
Dr. Sally highlighted Dweck’s Research and brought out the fact that “Praise” plays a vital role in enhancing the effort and ability of an employee in an organization. On one hand praise gives confidence and on the other hand helps an individual to gain achievement. In the interest of the organization the employees must be praised for their efforts which in turn increases motivation and success. She emphasized that “constructive criticism is necessary if we want people to develop and learn”. She further enlisted the life profile of various achievers who were written off in the initial years of their careers which means that no one is born smart but this is something which can be attained if the mind is focused towards a particular target. The Seminar ended with a vigorous interactive session of question answers among the guest speaker and the students. S.
