
Amritsar, Feb 1 (Punjab Post Bureau)- On the eve of World Wetland Land, the formation of Amritsar Bird Club was announced at the first meeting of birding enthusiasts at the Bhai Vir Singh Niwas Sthaan orchards this evening. While the avian experts and photographers talked about their experiences studying bird habitats and natural settings, They also exchanged delightful photographs collected painstakingly by them. The area of operation of this group is The Ravi, Beas riverine belt although Harike wetland is a favourite arena for them. The group is from diverse backgrounds in various professions, including industry, ecology, government services, doctors as well as other vocations. The founder members of the Club are Rishiraj Singh, Puneet Watts, Arvie Vaid, Navdeep Sood and Gunbir Singh.
The main focus areas of this ecology gathering shall be documentation of species, spreading awareness of the avian Biodiversity, Conservation of species. Various activities such as holding photography workshops, birding walks, Photo exhibitions, student awareness presentations, bird census and others were discussed, and shall begin from this month itself. A website as well as social media interactions shall begin shortly as well.
Speaking on the occasion, Gunbir Singh, Patron of the Amritsar Bird Club, and the Chairperson WWF-India Punjab chapter Welcomed this formation, and said that all available assistance shall be provided to avid ecologists to document, picturise and display their works and expressions of nature.
