Amritsar, Feb 8 (Punjab Post Bureau)- A special lecture on “Planning in India-An Evaluation” has been organized by Department of Economics, G.N.D.U. College Verka. Prof.(Dr.) Kuldip Kaur from Punjab School of Economics, Guru Nanak Dev University enlightened the students about the importance of Planning in Indian Economy. In her speech, she explained the impact of different five year plans on the growth and development of Indian Economy. At the end of lecture, she also told how ‘Niti Ayog’ came into existence and difference between Niti Ayog and Planning Commission. Principal Dr. Harish Chander Sharma welcomed the guest speaker. Head of the Department, Dr. Jasminder Pal Singh introduced the speaker and Presented Vote of Thanks to the speaker. Prof.Sukhmaninder Pal Singh, Prof.Gurmeet Singh, Prof. Sonika Thakur, Prof.Punnet Randhawa, Prof. Shivani Arora, Prof. Gurminder Kaur, Prof. Gurinder Kaur, Prof. Pratibha Arora were also present on the occasion. Apart from this another lecture on Gadhar Movement was also organized by History Department of the college. Dr. Amandeep Bal from History Department of the University delivered this lecture. He said that the contribution of Punjabis in Gadhar movement is commendable. He said that a large number of people sacrificed their lifes to achieve the freedom.
