BBK DAV organizes a seminar ‘Janhit Jagran’ an social entrepreneurship

Amritsar, Feb 9 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The department of Journalism and Mass Communication of BBK DAV College organized a seminar ‘Janhit Jagran’ on social entrepreneurship in collaboration with Danik Jagran group in college premises.

Journlist Mr. Ashok Neer said that Dainik Jagran has always stood up for the cause of social issues. He further added that the program invites ideas that provide rational and innovative solutions for given set of challenges across 7 key domains, such as, educated society, healthy society, women empowerment, poverty alleviation, environment conservation and population management.

Mr. Prashant Kashyap, Chief Manager, Strategy and Brand Development, Danik Jagran, Delhi, while expressing his views, said that journalism is the third eye as a journalist senses things prior to anyone else. He added that social responsibility is the basic need of a journalist. Ms. Debjani Khan, Program Manager at Plan International, said that the world has changed and social work has taken a new shape. She motivated students to contribute to the society by giving ideas as in Janhit Jagran Program so that these ideas are adopted and finally implemented. Mr. Aashish Beerngi, a youth activist and social entrepreneur interacted with the students and encouraged them to engage in social development work.

Towards the end of program, Mr. Deepak Babbar, from NGO Mission Aghaaz, inspired the students to work in the domain of social welfare and also to remain sensitive towards various social issues prevalent in the society. Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia applauded the efforts of Danik Jagran for conducting such an event in the college. She too emphasized on the role that youth can play in creating a radical change in the society. Dr. Priyanka Bassi, Head, Journalism and Mass Communication Department, faculty Mrs. Anterpreet Kaur, Mrs. Aashima Makhija, Mrs. Mehak Arora, Mrs. Richa Mehra, Ms. Gurinder Kaur and Mrs. Deepika Arora attended the seminar.
