Amritsar, Feb. 18 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Taekwondo team of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar won the GNDU Inter-college Taekwondo Championship held at GNDU Campus, Amritsar on 8th February 2016. The college team gave a remarkable performance by winning four gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal. Ms. Rohini, Ms. Kanika, Ms. Amanpreet and Ms. Kirandeep won gold medals in 46 kg, 53 kg, 57 kg and 73 kg weight categories respectively, whereas Ms. Manpreet Kaur and Ms. Jagwant Kaur won silver medals in 49 kg and +75 weight categories respectively while Ms. Navjot Kaur won a bronze medal in 67 kg weight category. All the gold and silver medalist players are selected for All India Intervarsity Camp which is going to be held at GNDU Amritsar.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia applauded the efforts of the Department of Sports and said that the college has always maintained excellent performance in various sports championships, thus making the institution feel proud. Mrs. Sweety Bala, Head, Department of Sports, along with other faculty members Ms. Savita Kumari, Ms. Aruna, Ms. Rajdeep Kaur & Taekwondo Coach Mr. Lakshman Prasad congratulated the students on their achievement.
