Avians of Harike-Photo exhibition inaugurated

PPN2002201605Amritsar, Feb 20 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Amritsar Bird Club (ABC) has hit the ground running after its formation this month. Today a Two day Photographic Exhibition “Avians of Harike” was inaugurated in the presence of Enthusiastic citizens, bird lovers, and friends of the ecology. The participants of the exhibition are avid birders and photographers from Amritsar, Beas and Tarn Taran. The youngest exhibitor, Nikhilesh Badhwar, 14 year old budding naturalist was most excited to have his entries. In the show. Most of the birders are in a variety of professions such as doctors, lawyers, students, government officials, businessmen and environmentalists, and birding is both a hobby and a passion for them. Above thirty entries were selected for display from the creatives of Arvie Vaid, Dr. Shantun Malhotra, Sandeep Sharma, Navdeep Sood, Puneet Watts, Gitanjali Kanwar & Nikhil Badhwar. The next event planned by the ABC is a Dawn to Dusk birding session at Harike wetland on 28Feb. Speaking on The occasion Gunbir Singh, Patron of Amritsar Bird Club, said that since we are on the exit threshold of hibernating Season, this shall be the last opportunity for enjoying the winged visitors at the wetlands of this Ramsar site. He Expressed his satisfaction with the significant awareness being generated towards nature and its assets. He said That ABC will continue to get patronage from Dilbir Foundation & WWF-India for this ecologically valuable project. He also Thanked the Alpha One for being a generous host, and providing the most prominent space for the exhibits at the Mall.
