National-5-day Artists Camp Inaugurated at Art Gallery

Amritsar, Mar. 12 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The top artists from all over the country converged at `National Artists Camp-2016’, which was inaugurated at Indian Academy of Fine Art (IAFA) in association with Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi, here today. The artists would be displaying their art work at the Art Gallery till March 16 and would also be providing valuable tips to the budding artists, said IAFA President Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina who inaugurated the Camp.

            Chhina meanwhile demanded support from the government to the art galleries in the country which are supporting the artists, saying that they can provide top class facilities to the artists only if they gets such assistance. He said the Propose of the camp is to encourage the artists and provide the local art lovers an opportunity to watch their work and freely interact with them for the promotion of the art work. The IAFA today gave cash prizes and citation to 20 national artists including Harish Srivastav from Delhi,  GY Giri from Hydrabad, Khushi Ram Jauhari, Sriraj Saxena and Shyam Sharma from UP, RG Dongri from Bhopal, LN Rana from Delhi, Chitra Singh and Lalit from Noida, Anupam Bhatnagar from Ajmer, Neelama Verma and Gurjeet Dhillon from Delhi, Kulwant Singh and Bhupinder Nanda from Amritsar.

            Apart from Camp, a play `Gajab Chor Ki Ajab Paheli’ was also staged in the evening which was highly entertaining for the artists and the general public. Directed by Chander Kanta under the guidance of Dr.Satya Parkash the play is based on the heated exchange of words between a judge and a thief. IAFA Chairman Mohinderjit Singh Chairman, Dr. P S Grover, JS Brar, Shivdev Singh, Principal Jagdish Singh, OP Verma, Narinder Nath were present.
