DAV Public Celebrates Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore

Amritsar, 7 May (Punjab Post Bureau) – DAV Public School, Lawrence Road today celebrated the birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. The students conducted a special assembly dedicated to Gurudev . The students paid tribute to the great poet, playwriter , painter, musician, composer and above all an educator by singing songs and reciting poems written by him. Gurudev’s famous song ‘Ekla Chalo Re..’ reverberated in the school along with his other compositions. The students explored the life and work of this multi – talented humanist. Through the medium of art, Gurudev encouraged  mutual understanding, peace and brotherhood. This true  patriot and literary genius was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1913. The students reflected on his works which have a universal appeal. They took a pledge to make India a country of his dreams where the head is always held high.  Regional Director Amritsar Zone Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam  Kamra Principal BBK DAV College for Women, and the Manager of  the school Dr. K.N. Kaul Principal DAV College , Hathi Gate , Amritsar sent their blessings for the students on this occasion. They said that Gurudev was a great visionary and was in favour of education that enhanced knowledge and built  strong foundation. They said that students of today must learn from the life of this multifaceted legend.  Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school said that today is the time to reflect and innovate and be inspired by the vision of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.  She urged the teachers to take  inspiration from his famous quote , “ Don’t limit a child to your own learning , for he was born in another time”.
