6 Kgs Heroin worth Rs.30 crores Seized -1 arrested

Amritsar, 15 May (Punjab Post Bureau)- As part of an ongoing state-level concerted drive against drug trafficking, especially high-grade drugs like heroin, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) has seized 6 kgs of heroin worth Rs.30 crores in the international market and arrested 1 person.  During the investigation of case FIR no. 06 dated 26.04.2014 u/s 21,25,29,61/85 NDPS Act, PS SSOC, Amritsar in which 22 KGs of heroin was recovered by the cell, the name of Kuldeep Singh @ Heera S/o Mukhtyar Singh R/o Marri Kamboki, PS. Khalara, Distt TarnTaran figured in the interrogation of the arrested accused. It was learnt that Kuldeep Singh was already in Jail, in case pertaining to recovery of heroin, registered in 2013 and hence he was brought on production warrant from the Jail. His interrogation led to the recovery of 6 KGs of heroin on his disclosure statement, which he had kept concealed at a secluded place near his village. A separate Case FIR No. 7 dated 15-05-2014 u/s 21,29/61/85 NDPS Act has been registered in police station SSOC Amritsar. The preliminary questioning of arrested person has revealed that he was in touch with Pakistan-based heroin smugglers and some notorious Indian smugglers since 2012. The recovered consignment of heroin was retrieved by the accused and his associates in August/September 2013 from Ferozpur sector but was unable to dispose off the same as some members of gang were arrested by Police. The arrested person will be produced in court where police remand to question him thoroughly will be sought. It is the endeavour of the Punjab Police to expose such trafficking rackets completely by unveiling the complete network and nexus of the gang. The exact place from where the consignment was pushed into India territory is being indentified. More arrests are likely. Further investigations are ongoing.
