A seminar on wildlife conservation conducted in SGH Sr. Sec Public School Majitha Road

Amritsar, June 3 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A seminar on wildlife conservation was conducted in Sri Guru Harkrishan Sr. Sec Public School Majitha Road By Pass. The programme started with the welcome note by Madam Principal Mrs. Dapinder kaur. She accorded a floral welcome to the guest speakers of the day. Mr. S.K Sagar DFO Asr and S. Gurbir Singh Chairperson WWF Punjab state Advisory Board and chairman of ECO Amritsar. Mr. Puneet Watts environment education officer (WWF Asr Representative Office) gave PPT presentation on wildlife conservation in which it was shown that animals which add to the natural beauty of the earth are at the verge of extinction because human activities have become a big threat to them and these animals are being killed indiscriminately by poachers and hunters. Animals like elephants & Rhinos are being cruely killed for ivory and tigers for skin & bones. Deforestation is also one of the major cause of their extinction. Forest area is getting diminished due to rapid urbanization.

Mr. S.K Sagar (IFS) Divisional Forest Officer, Amritsar, had very effective interactive session with the students of the school. He enlightened them with loads of knowledge. Students asked him many question and enhanced their knowledge. S. Gurjit Singh project administrator, Eco Amritsar and S. Sumit Singh expert of vermicompost making, guided the students & staff in starting of compost pit that enriches soil health & enhances the soil food web. Er. Jaspal Singh (Member Incharge of the school) thanked the guests for their valuable tips and worthy guidance on wildlife conservation. Students of the school pledged to help, stop wildlife crime and commit to preserve nature’s beauty for future generations.
