Culmination of Northern Command Summer Adventure Camp

Jammu, June 12  (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Northern Command Summer Adventure Camp 2016 successfully culminated on 12 June 2016 after a weeklong series of manifold activities for children hailing from Army background and various age groups ranging from 11 to 18 years with effect from 06 June to 12 June 2016.

        It was an eventful, fun-filled and enlightening extravaganza for the volunteer children. The motivated and enthusiastic children left no stones unturned to learn and thereafter refine their skills in various leisure, adventure and group activities to include trekking, rock climbing, obstacle course, tent pitching, jungle survival skills, treasure hunt, painting, skit, tree plantation, clean and green drive, air gun shooting, archery and team games under the watchful and experienced guidance of Army personnel. The team of ‘The Initiator Brigade’ achieved the ultimate aim of inculcating ecological awareness, foster a spirit of camaraderie and national integration, develop communication skills and enhance self confidence with a sense of achievement in the budding mind by conducting outdoor skills and ensuring meaningful utilization of vacations.

       The event was declared closed by Major General Naveen Kumar Airy, General Officer Commanding, DAH Division at Northern Command Leadership and Self Development Centre at Dalhousie Cantonment on 12 June 2016 in an apt ceremony comprising of closing address, Campfire, entertainment programme hosted by the children. The children were bid farewell on 13 June 2016 with a promise to endorse them in the Summer Adventure Camp of the next year, spread environmental awareness to their peer and carry on with their newly inherited adventure skills.
