Four Week General Orientation Programme concluded at Guru Nanak Dev University

Amritsar, 21 June (Punjab Post Bureau)- A “Four Week General Orientation Programme-99” was concluded here today at the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre of the Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as 47 University & College teachers from diverse disciplines from various parts of the country participated.

Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, I.G. Border Range, Amritsar presided over the valedictory session. Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh in his exhaustive, thought-provoking valedictory address emphasized on strengthening the bond between academics and governance. The real purpose of the education is to bring about a positive change in the society, which also needs to be reflected in one’s profession, he emphasized. Shedding light on the various administrative, socio-political issues before the society, he said that contribution of an individual in dealing with them can’t be underestimated. Instead of eternally criticizing the system and individuals for all the evils, we should also introspect and contribute our mite to ameliorate the things, he further said.

Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap also freely interacted with the participants and entertained their queries. Talking about the prevalent education system, he is of the view that current education system needs to be overhauled in consonance with the current realities. He exhorted the participants to exercise their right to franchise during the elections vigilantly, rationally, logically and not to get carried away by the narrow considerations of caste, region etc. He concluded his address that it is only a microscopic minority, which is responsible for tarnishing the image of any profession.

Prof. Amarjit Singh Sidhu felicitated the participants on the successful completion of the course and exhorted them to disseminate the knowledge gained during the course further. The participants of the course profusely thanked one and all for the whole-hearted cooperation during the entire length of the Programme.  Earlier the Chief Guest was accorded a floral welcome by Prof. Amarjit Singh Sidhu & Dr. Mohan Kumar. At the end the certificates were distributed to the successful participants by the Chief Guest. Dr. Mohan Kumar proposed the vote of thanks.
