Gurj Division conducts Mock Drill against Terrorist Attack

Pathankot, July 15 (Punjab Post Bureau) – In order to check the operational preparedness, mobility of troops, proper liaison and communication between different agencies and coordination on ground against any possible terrorist attack keeping in view the present security scenario, 29 Infantry Division and Samba Police conducted a joint Mock Drill at Nonath Ashram, Ghagwal along the National Highway under the guidance of Major General Rajesh Chopra, General Officer Commanding
29 Infantry Division.  According to police spokesperson the said drill was aimed at to keep the said force personnel well aware about their role during any militant strike, he said, adding. “Army helicopters also were the part of the said mock which started at 0500 hours in the morning till 1300 hours in the afternoon.  During the course of said mock drill all the preventive measures necessitated to be taken during any terrorist strike as well as the reaction time of the Army/ Police was observed, he said. General Officer Commanding 29 Infantry Division himself guided the mock rehearsal to perfection so that all security forces/ agencies are clear of their duties to be performed in case any terrorist attack takes place during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.  He also emphasised on the measures to ensure security of soft targets like shivirs / Langars and the importance of safe guarding these targets with police & civil administration. The other officers of Army/ Police and civil authorities were also present during the said joint mock drill. All the sister agencies working in the area as well as general public of area were informed well in about the said mock drill to avoid any panic, he said.
