Jalandhar, August 23 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The Golden Jubilee Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) Day celebration concluded successfully with great fervor & gaiety at Vajra Corps. Mrs Anupvir Kaur, Zonal President Vajra, AWWA was the chief guest. The event commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp & AWWA song followed by a variety of programme and activities.
AWWA is one of the largest voluntary organisations in the country with the families of all ranks of the Indian army being its members. Founded on 23 Aug 1966, today was the Golden Jubilee year commemoration of the Army Wives Welfare Association. In the AWWA Golden Jubilee celebrations at Jalandhar, the celebrations covered a large number of welfare activities involving the families of soldiers over the past one month. In addition to extensive medical & dental health check ups, activities like ‘Walk for Fun’, ‘Best out of Waste’ & ‘Poster Making competition’ were conducted for ladies and children. Golden Jubilee celebrations also included tree plantation by the families in Jalandhar Cantonment to spread awareness on the environmental protection. As part of AWWA Day celebrations, a talk on “Cyber Security” was also conducted for the families.
As another major welfare venture and a part of Golden Jubilee celebrations Veer Naris & Widows of Jalandhar district were felicitated by Mrs Anupvir Kaur, Zonal President Vajra, AWWA at Jalandhar. Mrs Anupvir Kaur, Zonal President Vajra, AWWA also felicitated families and children who excelled in various competitions and conferred AWWA Award of Excellence to six ladies and children respectively.
