ppn1909201603

Amritsar, 19 Sept. (Punjab Post Bureau) – District Congress Committee Amritsar Rural president Gurjeet Singh Aujla today visited village Mehlanwala in Ajnala. Today this village was supplied 1400 bags of rotten wheat (30 Kg each) by PDS for distribution among 700 blue card holders. 5 kgs of wheat is allotted per head. Two ration depots of the village are owned by Rajpal Singh and Tarsem Lal. District Food Suppy Insp. Taranpreet Singh Bawa and AFSO Umesh Kumar arranged for the distribution. Previous supply to the village was done in Feb 2013 and Dec 2015. During a protest DFSC Dr. Nirmal Singh there has been no discrepancies in wheat quality or supply. He also stated that wheat is sent from ceilo godowns and is of the best quality.

Aujla commenting on this wheat scam said that the best quality wheat is sold in open market by the PDS, DFSC officials and SAD-BJP leaders. Rotten wheat is then procured on cheap rates and mixed with 40% of quality grains, packed in fresh jute bags and is sent to villages for distribution. Distribution officials are not even specifying the period of wheat supply on the rations cards to cover up their scam. Aujla further said that monthly supply of 15000 quintals (approx.) of black grams and 6 lakh liters (approx.) of kerosene has not been distributed in any constituency of district Amritsar. Aujla demanded that a high level enquiry must be conducted in this matter to find out the missing supply and origin of rotten wheat. He said that DCC (R) and blue card holders from various villages of Ajnala will stage a protest at district administration complex along with the rotten wheat and demand for an enquiry and action.
