Zonal Youth Festival of Government/Constituent & Associate Institutes inaugurated at GVNDU

Amritsar, Sept. 19 (Punjab Popst Bureau) – A Four-Day Zonal Youth Festival of Government/Constituent Colleges and Associate Institutes was inaugurated here today in the Dashmesh Auditorium of the Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as seven hundred students-artists are participating in 31 items of Music, Theatre, Dance, Literary & Fine Arts. This festival would be concluded on September 22.

         Prof. N.S. Tung, Dean, Academic Affairs formally inaugurated this festival by lighting the candles. Dr. Raminder Kaur, Professor Incharge (Publication) was the guest of honour. Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare Department welcomed the chief guest and others. She gave detail of the achievements of the Department. While blessing the students, Prof. Tung said that participation in youth festivals along with the studies are the integral part of overall personality development of the students. These activities also inculcate a sense of discipline and national integration and also provided platform to show their hidden talent of the students. He said that University is committed for the welfare of students and would continue this exercise for further improvements. Dr. Raminder Kaur also presented his views on this occasion. Dr. Jagjit Kaur also honoured Chief Guest and guest of honour with mementos.

Today, the festival was started with the item of Bhangra followed by Costume Exhibition, Skit, Group Song (Indian), Group Shabad/Bhajan, Vaar Singing, Kavishri, Painting, Cartooning, Poster Making and Photography. On September 20 the competitions of Mime, Mimcry, One Act Play, Folk Song, Geet/Gazal, Classical Intrumental (Percussion) and Classical Vocal will be organized. Folk Instrument, General Dance, Elocution, Poetical Symposium, Debate, Quiz, Rangoli and Phulkari will be organized on September 21. On the last day i.e. September 22 Classical Dance, Western Vocal Solo and Gidha followed by prize distribution function will be organised.
