7-Day Short Term Course on Soft Skills & Creative Writings concluded

 Amritsar, October 12 (Punjab Post Bureau)- A 7-Day “Short Term Course on Soft Skills & Creative Writings” concluded at the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre of the Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as 31 faculty members from a wide spectrum of disciplines from various Universities of Punjab and the far flung states of the country participated. Prof. Apoorvanand, an eminent thinker, Deptt. of Hindi, University of Delhi, New Delhi and Prof. R.K. Mahajan, Dean, College Development Council graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour respectively.

Prof. Apoorvanand in his valedictory address shed light on the concept of creativity, which he opined, is not an exclusive domain only of the creative writers like story-writers, novelists, poets etc. The scholarly works even in the other domains like Social Sciences, Natural Sciences etc. come under the purview of creative writings, he emphasized. Exhorting the participants to enjoy their work to the inner satisfaction of their own conscience rather than being duty conscious only, he counselled them to perform duties assigned to them with utmost pleasure. Blaming the prevailing socio-economic system in the world today for the lack of humane touch amongst the millions of masses, he said that an astronomical majority of the people all over the world lack in leisure because of their hectic work culture in the pursuit of earning sources of livelihood.

Prof. R.K. Mahajan, Dean, College Development Council, GNDU, Amritsar in his presidential remarks counselled the participants to make it a virtue of the necessity and to get their expertise enhanced by attending such courses. Undoubtedly, such courses have been linked with the API score, but, simultaneously, such courses go a long way in augmenting the existing knowledge of the teachers, which, undoubtedly, is a lifelong process, he further said.

Prof. Amarjit Singh Sidhu, Director, Human Resource Development Centre summarized the overall contents of the Course. Felicitating the participants on the successful completion of the Course, he expressed the hope that they must have definitely met their goals during the course. The participants of the Course profusely thanked the entire team of the Centre for this endeavour and also made a few constructive suggestions. In the end, the Certificates were distributed to the successful participants. Earlier, the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour were extended a floral welcome by Prof. Amarjit Singh Sidhu and Dr. Mohan Kumar. Dr. Mohan Kumar, Deputy Director, HRDC proposed the vote of thanks.
