EX-Servicemen Rally Held at Beas

Beas, October 28 (Punjab Post Bureau)- In the ongoing drive to address the needs of Ex Servicemen a veterans’ Rally was held at Beas Military Station on 27 Oct 16, the rally was attended by approximately 250 Veterans and Veer Naris. Brigadier Sandeep Singh, Station Commander, Beas Military Station, during his address to the august gathering brought out the benefits of Online Registration of their complaints with regard to their pension and other assistances without having to visit any office. Apprising about the various welfare measures being undertaken by the Army, the Station Commander added that special emphasis will be laid on self-reliance and as such employment opportunities which have been created for Veterans, Veer Naris and their dependents. Currently, 70 Ex Servicemen, Veer Naris and dependents are employed by the Beas Military Station in various civilian posts in the Ex Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), Canteen, Schools and Polyclinic, the Station Commander informed.

Representatives from different departments including Banks, Department of Defence Service Welfare Office (DDSWO) and Defence Pension Disbursing Office (DPDO), Amritsar were present at the rally to resolve grievances and also to inform the Veterans about the various schemes and facilities offered by them. A separate medical camp with medical specialists in attendance was also held concurrently and several Veterans and Veer Naris used this exclusive facility to get themselves examined at this rally.Station Commander and Mrs Soni Singh, Chairperson, Family Welfare Organisation, Double Victory Brigade, later interacted with the Veterans and Veer Naris and reiterated the commitment of the Army towards them.
