Amritsar, November 15 (Punjab Post Bureau) – At least 439 young artists including many of those differently-abled today exhibited their prowess in the art during the `on the spot painting competition’, held at Indian Academy of Fine Art (IAFA) here. They participated in the painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and graphics on the wide variety of subjects and the final trophy was lifted by the Manav Public School. The event was open to the students from 5thclass to plus 2 classes. The best of the art work completed by the students was exhibited at the gallery which was opened to the general public. Khalsa University vice chancellor Dr. S.S Chahal who was the chief guest at prize distribution function and he gave away the prizes in presence of IAFA President Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina. Mr. Chhina said that 33 schools from all over the district and neighboring district of Batala took part in the event. Mr. Chhina said that at least 19 students who participated in the program were differently abled and he appealed the society at large that we should be sensitive to these children as they are as talented as the other children and sometimes even more. Dr. Chahal appreciated the historic institutions IAFA’s work for the promotion of the art since pre-partitioned era. He said the platforms of these kinds help the students to ensharp their hidden talent.
