
Amritsar, Dec 2 (Punjab Post Bureau) – More than half century old Faridkot Hostel at historic Khalsa College has been restored to its original architectural texture and designs. To house 150 students of various post graduate classes, the hostel was renovated following the old building fell to the vagaries of time and the same is restored by keeping the original architecture in mind.
Khalsa College Governing Council honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina who inaugurated the renovated picturesque building, said that the century old building in the campus need repair and renovations but they want that the basic structure and architectural designs are kept intact. “It is difficult task to maintain the original texture and architectural style but our engineers are capable enough to complete this gigantic task’’, said Chhina.
Apart from the hostel building a modern new block of the Library building of the Colleeg was also inaugurated today. The two-story Block will house the books and reading halls for the students, said Principal Dr. Mehal Singh. The traditional outside look of the building has been maintained and inside the buildings offer the ultra modern facilities and amenities as per the new requirements had been added said he. Others present during the inauguration included KCGC finance secretary Gunbir Singh, Building Secretary Nirmal Singh, SS Mannan, faculty members of the College and others.
