Rs 3.48 lakhs recovered – Assistant Jail Supt suspended
Fazilka, January 4 ( Vaneet Kumar Arora) : After the enforcement of the model code of conduct in the state, Deputy Commissioner Fazilka, Isha Kalia IAS along with police officials raided the Fazilka sub jail on Wednesday evening and found around two dozen people in the jail who were present in the premises without following the proper procedure stipulated in the jail manual as per reports. It is said, they had come to meet liquor barren Shiv Lal Doda, who is lodged in the jail. He is accused in the famous murder case of a one Bhim Tank in Abohar.
DC Isha Kalia led the raid after Election Commission received a tip off from a top congress leader of the state regarding this matter. EC was told that Shiv Lal Doda, who is accused in a case, was holding a darbar in the Fazilka jail. One top official in the raiding team told babushahi “25 people were detained out of which 24 had come to meet Shiv Lal Doda. 7 vehicles were also detained along with recovery of Rs 3.48 lakhs”.
Confirming the development, Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia, when contacted said “Yes, we have raided the jail and I have sent a detailed report to state government and election commission regarding this matter. FIR has been lodged against all the people including Assistant Jail Supt”. She refused to give further details. Meanwhile, the state government has suspended the Assistant Superintendent of Sub Jail, Jashandeep Singh.
