DSP’s and SHO’s to undertake the village & urban tour with Sarpanches/Municipal Councillors

Amritsar, 10 June (Punjab Post Bureau)- Sh. Ishwar Chandar, IPS, IGP Border Zone, Amritsar has conveyed that under the directions of the DGP Punjab all DSPs and SHOs have been asked through their SSsP to undertake the village and urban touring with the help of Sarpanches/Municipal Councillors and prominent people of Villages/Mohallas to ensure that every Village/Mohalla is drug free after proper crack down on the supply of drugs and other psychotropic substances. Such village touring shall be completed within three days. During this Village/Mohalla/Ward touring alongwith the prominent persons of the area, the police officers will ensure that the whole Village/Ward/Mohalla is drug free. If there are addicts, who use drugs, are found in the vicinity of the area, police will identify them and help them to rehabilitate and to carry them to the drug de-addiction centers with the help of civil administration/CMO and proper treatment. It is also reiterated that during such Public – Police – Civic campaign against drugs, meetings shall be held with the Chemist Associations, local Village/Mohalla doctors, RMPs and it shall be ensured that no medical representative who is not qualified or not certified from a competent authority shall make the sale of psychotropic drugs to any one. In case of medical need, proper prescription of a doctor, not less than an MBBS or equivalent degree doctor shall be condition. All such local medical practioners shall be asked not to indulge in prescription of such drugs. IGP also conveyed on behalf of the DGP Punjab that supply chain of hard and commercial drugs like Heroin, Smack and Ice has been totally broken down in Punjab. Whatsoever was the availability, it was of the Poppy Husk and chemical drugs like capsules and tablets. Hard drugs like Heroin and Smack supplied from Pakistan/J & K border which was to be carried to Delhi, Bombay and other metropolitan cities used to come back to Punjab as a matter of redistribution and use. Due to high rate, the hard drugs like Heroin and Smack are beyond the reach of common man in Punjab. Supply of Poppy Husk is received from Rajasthan and in the form of other chemical drugs like capsules and tablets. This part of supply has been cracked down. Strict watch and ward has also been ordered on the activities of big smugglers coming on bail. Concerned SSPs, DSPs and SHOs have been directed to make their dossiers and there will be every day attendance/presence of such bailed outs in the Police Stations as per need. Only those bailed out suspects will be spared in respect of whom the whole Mohalla/village will give assurance that he is living a peaceful and crime free life. Drive against drug traffickers is ceaselessly in operation. Civic action by the police with the help of prominents of area and to rehabilitate and to supply de-addiction facilities to the consumers is the main motive now so that a drug free, addiction free and harmonious society be re-generated and recreated.
